Why can two homes cost different amounts?
A simple open basement with one slab may allow straightforward diagnostics and routing. A house with multiple additions, crawlspaces, finished ceilings, limited access or several foundation zones may require more testing, more suction points or a more complex route.
What should an estimate clarify?
- The proposed mitigation approach and why it fits the home.
- Number and location of suction points, fan and discharge route.
- Electrical work, patching and other work included or excluded.
- System indicator, commissioning and post-mitigation test.
- Warranty terms, maintenance expectations and who is responsible for permits or inspections, if applicable.
Be cautious with a price given without context
A responsible provider should ask about the test, foundation and building configuration before making a firm promise. The lowest number is not automatically the best value if the design, verification or qualifications are unclear.
